A village, slowly waking
About
Cocoyellow Village is a small village on a tropical island, where the air smells like frangipani in the morning and rice cooking somewhere down the lane. Anna lives here with Coco, a ginger cat who chose her and has not left. Some days the rain comes at three. Most days nothing happens.
We made this place for the days when nothing happening is exactly what you need.
What lives here
Short stories from inside the village, sent out every other Sunday. Painted scenes. Eventually lofi loops to keep you company while you work or rest, and a small handful of objects Anna and her friends are slowly making. Linen, fabric, things her hands keep returning to.
Nothing is in a hurry. Take what you want. Come back when you want.
Where it comes from
The village is real, or it was. A small tropical village where the coconut trees were the tall yellow kind and nobody was in a hurry about anything.
Then the world went quiet. Planes stopped flying, the tourists stopped coming, and a short visit turned into a long one. The village got very still, and that stillness is when we actually learned it. The lanes, the three o'clock rain, which cafe had the good seat.
A ginger cat the locals called the yellow cat decided he lived with us. He is where the name came from. He is still the reason for most of it.
What's left of it is this site. Some of it is remembered accurately. Some of it has been moved around to fit, because that's what memory does when you leave it alone for a few years. The light is right, though. The cat is right.
The villagers are loosely based on real people, fictionalized. And the village they live in is not on a map, and that's deliberate, because a real one is still there and still going about its business without us.
